The International Theological Conference “Discipleship in the Churches of the Reformation Heritage: Biblical, Historical, and Contemporary Perspectives”

From April 25 to 27, the International Theological Conference “Discipleship in the Churches of the Reformation Heritage: Biblical, Historical, and Contemporary Perspectives” was held in Zagreb, hosted by our partner, BIZG – Biblical Institute of Zagreb.

The event was part of a research project by the Biblical Institute, and its purpose was to bring together theologians, experts, and church leaders to systematically approach the topic of discipleship from different perspectives: biblical, historical, and contemporary.

As the organizers pointed out, Reformation heritage churches nurture Jesus’ concept expressed in Matthew 28 — to make all nations disciples, but it is evolving and changing. Thus, the question arises of how Jesus’ model of discipleship is applied, what challenges the churches face, and how all this affects the building of individuals, families, churches, and society as a whole.

The conference was attended by lecturers from the Evangelical Theological University, including Dr. Gregory S. Thellman, who presented on “Two Opposing Visions of Renewal: Discipleship as an Eschatological Act”; Dr. Aleksandar Apostolovski, “Teaching the Mind through Proverbs and Riddles”; and Dr. David Kovačević, “Following Jesus in Care for God’s Creation According to Matthew 21:1-11.”
