Erasmus, mobility program, Estonia (2023)

Published: November 30, 2023

A six-member team from the university stayed in Tallinn, Estonia, from November 20th to 24th, where they participated in a joint program through the Erasmus mobility program with lecturers from three other institutions.

Lecturers from our university, together with colleagues from the Department of Theology and Catechetics at Matej Bel University in Banská Bystrica, Slovakia, the Department of Theology at LCC International University in Klaipeda, Lithuania, and hosts from the Estonian Free Church Theological Seminary in Tallinn, Estonia, discussed two important student-focused practices—mentoring and problem-based learning. These methods were explored both theoretically and practically, with our examples, questions, and experiences.

The program also included presentations of papers. Dr. Anne-Marie Kool and Dr. Benjamin Uhrin from Slovakia discussed ways to bridge the gap between missional theology and practice, while Prof. Julijana Mladenovska-Tešija from our university presented her research on the peacebuilding activities of believers and non-believers during the Croatian War of Independence (1991-1998). The presentations were open to the public, followed by a lively discussion on the role of the church and theological institutions in the world, within the European context, as well as new trends and challenges brought about by wars and migration.

The mobility program allowed the participating institutions to explore new ideas for collaboration, and the next meeting is planned to take place at our university in Osijek!
