Greetings,
We would like to inform you that on Saturday, April 5, 2025, a conference on the topic “Musical Creativity in Churches of the Reformation Heritage in Croatia 1990–2020” will be held in Zagreb.
Worshiping God through song plays an important role in the church services of the Reformation heritage, and a significant portion of the Bible (about 30%) is written in the form of poetry. Therefore, the goal of this conference is to explore musical creativity in the churches of the Reformation heritage over the past 30 years through a range of interesting topics, such as:
- The importance of worship in Sunday services
- How important is the theological content of the songs we sing?
- Hymnals created in the past 30 years
- Albums recorded in the past 30 years
- How is God worshiped through music in services of different denominations?
- The difference between worship songs and hymns
- How have foreign musical influences shaped worship songs and theology in our churches?
- And more.
Through this conference, we aim to bring together all those involved in worship and anyone interested in this topic to start a conversation on this important issue for our churches. This will not be a conference on how to lead worship, nor will we be able to cover all the relevant topics in one gathering, but we hope to put this subject “on the table” and begin discussing it.
We believe that this time of fellowship will be an opportunity to learn something new, hear fresh insights, discover how God has worked through music and worship in the past 30 years to touch His people, become familiar with local musical productions, and discuss challenges and issues related to worship. We also hope that this conference will serve as a platform for new ideas and future gatherings on the topic of Christian music and worship that we may not be able to cover in this event.
The speakers (in alphabetical order) will include: Marija Alić, Kristina, Ervin Budiselić, Roko Bunčić, Danijel Časni, Andrej Grozdanov, Filip Grujić, Petar Horvat, Petra Horvat, Stanko Jambrek, Maasej Kovačević, Snježana Kovačević, Goran Medved, Judita Paljević Kraljik, Matej Sakač, and Danijela Župančić, among others.
We kindly ask you to mark this conference in your personal and church calendars and inform anyone you believe may be interested in attending.
The conference is organized by the Biblical Institute in Zagreb and the Institute for Church Music and Worship at the Evangelical Theological Seminary in Osijek.
The planned venue is Kušlanova 21, Christ Church Zagreb. If the number of participants exceeds 70, we will consider an alternative location in Zagreb.
Lunch will be provided for all participants, so it is important for us to know the approximate number of attendees.
Registration will be done via an online registration form, which we will send you later.
Conference schedule:
- 9:30 AM: Gathering with coffee and pastries
- 10:00 AM – 5:30 PM: Conference sessions
We look forward to seeing you and send you our warmest greetings with God’s blessings!
